Electronic Waste Recycling will be held the same days as the S.T.O.P program (see above listing of dates and locations). This program ensures these items will not wind up in a landfill or incinerator. These items not only have a low level of biodegradability, but they contain materials such as lead, mercury and cadmium that are highly toxic when released into the environment. The program addresses the growing nationwide problem of e-waste, such as computers, cell phones, pagers and VCRs. The Town of Oyster Bay continues its leadership role in recycling by initiating the first regularly scheduled Electronic Waste Recycling program on Long Island. Program is funded, in part, by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

In addition, the Town has waste oil tanks for used motor oil and marine waste oil at the following locations:įor additional information about the S.T.O.P. New York State law requires every service station and major retailer that sells more than 500 gallons of motor oil to accept used motor oil at no charge.
